THEY SCREAM LOUDER IN COLOR!

This magazine ad is from 1986 promoting the all new colorized version of George A. Romero's classic horror movie The Night of the Living Dead. Back when I worked at a video store, I remember that we rented the heck out of this version. Of course I did my best to persuade people to rent the original black and white version, but everyone wanted to see what it looked like to eat human flesh in color. Even though this movie should be watched only in black and white I do like this magazine ad.

Yikes a Zombie Ken doll!! Stephen your comment cracked me up! I've never seen the colorized version.

Thanks Mike and yes I think I might live. I thought I was going to have to call you up and ask you to take my place as Mayor for a few days.

Now that you mention it, I do remember the brouhaha over colorizing this particular movie.

In general, of course, the debate was everywhere.

Does anybody colorize anything anymore? I haven't even heard of colorizing in years.

Yes, colorizing is still going on. They've improved it and at least most of the movies have both versions the original b/w and the new colorized version on the same DVD. Just released is the Ray Harryhausen classic 20 Million Miles To Earth now in color. Also, the first seasons of Bewitched and I Dream of Jeanie are colorized.
