It was thirty years ago today that the St. Louis Cardinals won the 1982 World Series! Back when I was twelve, I drew this page of alien/monster doodles in honor of the Cardinals. When I was a kid, I always enjoyed drawing as I watched TV. If I remember correctly, I drew this while watching the World Series with my family.
Since I'm smack dab in the middle of this Halloween countdown, I guess I should try to make this fit in with the other posts. Okay, let's take a look at some of these things from outer space.
This thing from outer space must be a pitcher!
This thing form outer space is going to drop the ball!
This thing from outer space must be the bat boy!
This thing from outer space is excited to be a Cardinals fan!
This thing from outer space looks more like a cousin it than a thing!
This thing from outer space is probably from the planet Pac-Man!
This thing from outer space could be Gonzo's long lost brother.
This thing from outer space likes to eat baseballs!
This thing from outer space slithers from base to base!
This thing from outer space wishes it had a mitt on each tentacle!
This thing from outer space is a Ozzie Smith fan because he wears an Ozzie jersey!
The thing from planet Earth who penciled these things from outer space back when he was twelve is wishing for the same success for the 2012 St. Louis Cardinals! Go Cards!!
Yesterday I was snooping around in an antique store and lucked on a set of Munsters paper dolls! The set was far from complete and it was missing the original folder, but for three bucks the dolls are perfect for a flea market friday post!
I guess you can say the Munsters got the memo for casual flea market friday! This is how they look before applying the paper clothes. Herman must have thrown out his shoulder at the funeral home since he's bandaged up with some yellow tape.
Poor Marilyn lost all of her clothes, so I didn't want her to feel out of place in this scan. Of course she always felt out of place during the show, so I guess that's appropriate. I'm thinking that Herman is missing a cowboy hat to go with his lasso.
Eddie is the next to disappear for the lack of paper clothing. I like that they gave Herman the suit of armor from the first episode, Munster Masquerade. Did Grandpa steal that jacket from the Invisible Man?
At least father and daughter will be ready for St. Patrick's Day!
That's it! No more Munsters paper clothes for my paper dolls, so I guess I'll have to stop playing with them. Hmm...maybe that wasn't worth my three bucks! Visit the Gothic Tea Society blog to see the missing folder that once housed the paper dolls.

Back in June, I blogged about the 30th Anniversary of E.T. and today we take a simple look at one of my favorite scenes from the film, the Halloween scene.
I always love seeing Polaroid cameras show up in movies and I often wonder how the actual Polaroid turned out. In the beginning of the scene we see Mary (Dee Wallace Stone) using a Polaroid camera (Is that a Sun 660?) to capture the moment of her kids on Halloween night. For fun, I've created a fake Polaroid of what Mary's instant photo might have looked like.
Once the kids leave the house, we see a horde of trick or treaters and costumed people walking the suburban streets.
The zombie doctor holding the poodle was played by Debra Winger!
I remember when the theater audience laughed out loud when E.T. notices Yoda. Spielberg added the Yoda kid as a fun joke directed at his buddy George Lucas. It was also a fun joke for all of us Star Wars kids!
Blink and you'll miss him, but there's a kid dressed up like Indiana Jones!
I would love to see the costume photos for all the Halloween extras!
Besides the Don Post Yoda mask, does anyone know if these were studio made masks or actual store bought masks?
Now this is truly frightening!
Look! It's the bumblebee girl from Blind Melon's No Rain!
This very cool flaming Jack O'Lantern is from the deleted scene when Mary picks up Michael and Gertie on Halloween night.
During filming on Halloween day, Spielberg showed up in costume dressed as an old lady. He even threw an old fashioned Halloween party for the kids, complete with bobbing for apples!
I recently picked up this E.T. Presto Magix. How 'bout that? This set is dedicated to the Halloween scene.
Um...who is the kid in the yellow mask behind E.T.?
Holy Halloween! There's a trick or treating Batman!
You can find the deleted Halloween scene and some footage of Old Lady Spielberg at the Halloween party on the E.T. Blu-ray extras.
