One of my favorite albums-cds-downloads or whatever you wanna call them these days has been the Stax 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Oh man, I’ve been enjoying this collection of 50 songs that Stax released from 1960 to 1975 on this two disc boxed set. When I listen to these tunes they make my work day go easy and fast and that “Stax Sound” really gets inside you! My favorite song of all time is on this album, Green Onions by Booker T. & The Mgs. Everything is in here by great artists like Otis Redding, Mar-Keys, Sam & Dave, The Bar-Kays, Johnnie Taylor, Issac Hayes, The Staple Singers, The Dramatics and many more.

All I can say it’s a smooth groove super soul funky fantastic good time when you’re listening to Stax 50th Anniversary Celebration! I picked my copy up at Best Buy, but I noticed Amazon has it on the cheap for just $15 bucks!

You might also want to pick up the very cool documentary Respect Yourself: The Stax Records Story on DVD.

And don't forget the 1967 Stax/Volt Live In Norway DVD. It's absolutely fantastic!! Otis backed by Booker T And The MG's, not to mention Sam And Dave. It's awesome.
