I scanned both of these photos from two different 1978 teen mags and neither magazine mentioned why these three icons are playing a game of hoops.
This rare meeting is probably from the 1978 Goldie Hawn TV Special.
Apparently Shaun was a Star Wars fan as he's featured on the cover of Dynamite with a furry friend.

That's a great cover on the Dynamite issue. Wait, which one is Shaun Cassidy again?
Vader should have joined the Trotters. He probably would have gotten tired of Curly's shenanigans and strangled him with the Force!
Funny how the caption refers to Cassidy as just "Shaun", but Vader has to be introduced as "Star Wars' Darth Vader". Vader needs no introduction today, but today's kids have no idea who Shaun Cassidy is.
I just remembered that I met Meadowlark Lemon when I was a kid, he came to a local school and put on a basketball demonstration in the gym with a couple other ex-members from the Harlem Globetrotters. They didn't call themselves that though, they had some other name but it was still awesome and funny as hell.
Aw man I totally remember Dynamite magazine!! Wow, what a blast from the past.
