Peter Pain was a popular ad mascot for Ben-Gay from the 1940s to the 1960s. The artist for this 1951 ad was Jack Betts. (Click on the ad for a closer look!)

Yeah - I totally remember that every other phrase out of my mouth when I was a kid was "Oh, my aching bones!" The other was "My bursitis is acting up again."
I remember Peter Pain included in the Sunday Funnies section like a horrible, nightmarish comic strip. As a little kid he scared me to death. Seeing him anew, he still does!
