TRYING TO HIT THE JACK-O-LANTERN JACKPOT: LOTTERY CARD TIME

Now for the traditional Halloween lottery ticket. I pick one up every October and so far I haven’t been able to retire as Mayor. Maybe this time this will be my ticket to easy living!

Ah, rats! Nope, just scratched another loser card to add to all my other loser cards from past years. You can see them here, here, here and here.

Erick from Wonderful Wonderblog, also enjoys playing the Halloween lottery and he usually posts his home state lottery card during the Halloween Countdown. That made me curious to know what kind of Halloween designs were on some of the other lottery cards from different states. Last year, my pal Mike gave me this nifty card from Oklahoma.

Snooping around last year on different state lottery websites, I swiped some images and made this Halloween lottery ticket mosaic.

Erick just posted Ohio's lottery ticket and Dex1138 picked up a Dracula themed ticket from the state of Massachusetts. I really dig the artwork on the MA ticket!

WICKED LOTTERY OF THE MIDWEST

It's that time of year again when I spend a couple of bucks on my annual Halloween lottery card. This year the Missouri Lottery used a licensed property for the third year in a row. The first two licensed properties were, Ghostbusters and The Walking Dead. This year's design is The Wizard of Oz. Wizard of Oz? Besides the Wicked Witch of the West and the Scarecrow this card doesn't seem very Halloween-y. I guess their market research shows that licensed characters sell better but call me old fashion, I want to see a card with a good old Jack O'Lantern or a generic Frankenstein's monster on the front. Oh well...enough complaining over something most people pitch in the trash soon after learning they didn't win any money. Speaking of scratching, I better see if I can win some gold bricks! My two lucky numbers under the rainbows are 8 and 7. Wish me luck!

Scratching...scratching...scratching...scratching. Oh no, Toto! Looks like that Wicked Witch of the West won this year. Another Halloween lottery ticket and another loser! One of these days, Toto, we're going to win this stupid Halloween lottery!!!

Here's he other Oz designs as seen in the GIF from the Missouri Lottery website.

For fun, here's all the Missouri Lottery tickets I've saved since I started playing.

WHO YA GONNA CALL? GHOSTBUSTERS LOTTERY

I ain't afraid of no debt! That's why I spent my two dollars on a Halloween lottery card.

For this year, Missouri ditched the generic Halloween theme in favor of a Ghostbusters theme. I was only able to find the Slimer card, but there are three different designs to choose from as seen in this gif from the Missouri Lottery website.

It's a nice change from years past. Speaking of change, let's try to win some.

Hey, I won! I won! I won two bucks! I've been playing the Halloween lottery for years and usually I end up with a loser card. Not today, 'cause I'm a Halloween lottery winner.

I noticed Ohio also went with a Ghostbuster theme for their Halloween lottery cards. They have four neat designs to choose from. Erick over at Wonderful Wonderblog scanned all four.

Apparently other states were in a Ghostbusters mood too like Kentucky and Arizona.

SCARY CASH - PLAYING THE HALLOWEEN LOTTERY

I’m continuing my tradition of buying a Halloween themed lottery card every year. C'mon lottery, baby ghost needs a new sheet!

This one turned out to be a loser.

So now I'm also continuing my tradition of buying losing Halloween themed lottery cards! Drat!!

Go here, here and here to see some of Missouri’s past Halloween lottery cards.

Check out Erick's Ohio ticket at Wonderful Wonderblog and then Dex's Massachusettes ticket.

THE WALKING DEAD LOTTERY TICKETS WILL EAT YOU

For the second year in a row, the Missouri Lottery has jumped on the licensed property bandwagon. Last year they went all retro and used a Ghostbusters theme. Since the new season of The Walking Dead premiers tonight, I thought it might be fun to play my traditional Halloween lottery card.

Okay, let's get to scratching. My winning numbers to match are 11 and 13. 13! That's always a good sign for a Halloween lottery card. Hold on a bit while I scratch my numbers... Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. NOOOOOOOPE!!!! Looks like I was eaten walkers and didn't win one red bloody cent. Now that I'm a zombie, um... I mean walker, hopefully I'll have better luck next year and win some scratch off cash! See you next year! Visit Wonderful Wonderblog and see if Erick managed to survive the herd of walkers.

Here's a gif from the Missouri Lottery website of all four of The Walking Dead card designs.

TOO SCARED TO SCRATCH THIS SPOOKY LOTTERY CARD

It's time again for my annual scratching of the Halloween lottery card. Last year, Missouri opted for less scary pumpkin with their Jack-O-Lantern Jackpot game. This year we get a more evil looking Jack. He's so evil looking that I'm kinda scared to scratch this Spooky Cash card. Hmm...maybe I'll just leave it unscratched and shove it in the drawer with all the other Halloween lottery cards from past years.

OK, I finally got the nerve to scratch it. Wish me luck!

I just scratched off my numbers and I need to match a 3 and a 20 for a cash prize. Now I just have to get a match. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Still no match. Nope. Nope. Nope. Noooope!!!! Fine! You win evil Jack and thanks for taking my two dollars! I'll see you next year and I better get a treat for a change instead of the same ol' trick!

Visit the Wonderful Wonderblog for some Ohio card scratchin'!

SCARY CASH: THIS YEAR'S HALLOWEEN LOTTERY CARD

Since this year marks the 7th year of the Halloween countdown, maybe this will be the year that I finally win some Scary Cash. C'mon on lucky #7!!

I am digging this year's design with the spooky scarecrow! Okay, let's see if this scarecrow is stuffed with dollar bills!

I'm scratching....

Still scratching....

Almost done scratching...

$#%&! The scarecrow won.

They really should make scratch and sniff lottery cards. Even if you lose, you could at least have the joy of sniffing something pleasant. If this card would have been scented with a nice pumpkin smell, maybe I'd be a little less bummed that I lost. Oh well...better luck next year!

I GOT A LOTTERY ITCH THAT NEEDS SCRATCHIN'

Ok, it’s time for my annual Halloween Lottery ticket. Let’s see if I can win some green dead presidents. Big bucks, no Whammy!

Aw shucks, I lost again. Too bad my “scary numbers” were not reversed as they would’ve been 1 and 3 making it 13. Yeah, that would’ve been the ticket.

Check out all the others thru the years with my post from last year. Yes, they were losers too! Bah, humbug!

HALLOWEEN LOTTERY TRADITION

I hardly ever buy a lottery ticket during the year, but several years ago I started buying one every Halloween and it’s turned into a fun October tradition. Some of the cards have been $1 and $5 dollar winners, but for the most part they turn out as losers. The last card pictured is the card for this year and I scanned it before I scratched it off. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a loser. Maybe next year!

RECORD ALBUM COVERS OF CHRISTMAS PAST

FLEA MARKET FRIDAYS #59

"I'll buy that for a dollar!"  I hit the tacky Christmas record lottery when I recently found these albums.  All but two were from the same collection and all were a buck each!

RUSSELL STOVER CHOCOLATE BARS ARE SO MONEY

Too bad I wasn’t a money winner playing the Halloween lottery. I did at least score these three chocolate bars made by Russell Stover at the local dollar store.

Wow, each chocolate note is a billion dollars or maybe I should say boollion dollars. I understand using the names Frank and Witchy, but who the heck is Buster the Ghost?

CAN THE MAYOR WIN A HAUNTED FORTUNE?

Here we go again the annual Halloween scratch off. Let's see if I can win some boo-la moola!

I like those numbers 8 and lucky 13! Now to scratch those eyeballs.

Rats! Another year with another loser lottery card. That's ok, because I'm not sure if I would want a Haunted Fortune. I might be too scared to spend it!

See the past loser cards here and here.
