FOREST CITY RICHVILLE, MN POSTCARD W/ WOODLAND MASCOTS

FLEA MARKET FRIDAYS #36

Look! It’s a giant racoon and his chipmunk pal out for a peaceful paddle boat ride on a lazy lake. I found this cheesy postcard at a little antique store a few weeks ago for a buck. I must've jinxed the store because it's already out of business.

According to the back of this postcard, Forest City was a theme park with go-carts, bumper boats, mini-golf, kiddie rides, craft shops and paddle boats. I did a quick online search and wasn’t successful finding anything about Forest City. Apparently, Richville is a small town in Otter Tail County and the lake in the photograph is Otter Tail Lake. Hmm... you would think Forest City would’ve gone with an Otter mascot instead of a racoon or chipmunk.

I'm afraid I just couldn't help myself and did a spoof of this postcard. Visit Weird Hollow to see my version!

I wouldn't have wanted to try and tread water in those costumes if that paddle boat ever capsized!

hey I use to go here when I was a kid! They had old carnival rides that I would never go on because they looked in safe. They also had a petting zoo with a really mean a llama. Haha
