FLEA MARKET FINDS #79

At the thrift store the other day, I found this video game themed record album cover, Chart Action 83 from K-Tel Records! Isn't it rad?

I'm kind of a sucker for nifty album covers and I've made it a habit to buy 'em if they're cheap. I have a good stack that I need to scan and share, so here are some of my recent scans.

Apparently chicks dig giant harmonicas. Who knew? I guess Charlie did, that's who!

Looks like Eddie is getting ready to blast off! 

For some reason, King Richard reminds me of a villain from the old Batman TV show. Like some diabolical evil doer who turns people into little dolls and controls him with his mind! 

Poor Tennessee Ernie Ford spent the day alone at the Indiana State Fair! Oh well, looks like he won a lot of stuffed animals, so that's good.

"I'll buy that for a dollar!"  I hit the tacky Christmas record lottery when I recently found these albums.  All but two were from the same collection and all were a buck each!

TRON SOUNDTRACK

My beat up soundtrack album of Tron. Such a unique and excellent soundtrack by Wendy Carlos. Here's an ad for the soundrack out of Starlog magazine.


I'm equally enjoying the Daft Punk scored Tron Legacy soundtrack.

TO LORAINE FROM ELAINE & HENRY: A RECORD ALBUM X-MAS WRAPPER

From the 1960's, is this nifty Christmas record wrapper sleeve that I picked up last year at a local flea market. According to the To & From box it was a gift to Lorraine from Elaine and Henry.

Apparently Lorraine wasn’t fond of the record that Elaine and Henry picked out. When I found it, this Eddy Arnold album was inside still sealed in the original cellophane.

EARL NIGHTINGALE ALBUM -- A GREAT WAY TO LIVE . . . A TRAGIC WAY TO DIE

I just picked up this Earl Nightingale record album called a great way to live. . . at the thrift store. Checkout those happy teenagers cruising in their convertible having a fun and carefree time. When you flip the album over. . .


you get a shock, as all the fun living teenagers are dead from a gruesome car wreck.


I really need to invest in a record player so I can find out how these hip kids bought the farm. My guess is that they were paying too much attention to the guitar playing kid in the back or maybe the gal with the hat had some Old Crow tucked away in that picnic basket.

THE HAUNTED MANSION DISNEYLAND RECORD & BOOK

FLEA MARKET FRIDAYS #18

The First Lady actually found this at a flea market when she was flipping thru a big box of kid's records back in June. I was going to hold it back for my all Halloween month in October, but since this week turned into a Disneyland week, I think it's perfect for today's FM Friday! Here's some scans from the book.

STAR WARS SOUNDTRACK ON VINYL

One evening, dad came home with a bag of Star Wars goodies for us kids. He pulled out of the shopping bag the Star Wars soundtrack and two oversized Star Wars comics. (I’ll post about these tomorrow.) As an extra bonus he also brought home a big box of glazed donuts!

The whole family listened to the soundtrack and enjoyed some glazed donuts and comic books!

Here are some photos of our Star Wars album. I bet if I looked close enough I might find some sticky glazed finger prints somewhere on it.







This is the poster that was "free inside" the album. It hung on my bedroom wall for years.
