HAPPY HOTPOINT HAND PUPPET

I just recently found this 1950's Happy Hotpoint hand puppet at an antique store. Everyone knows Happy Hotpoint right? This version of the little imp/pixie was the official mascot for Hotpoint appliances in the 1950s. (Click here to see what he looked like back in the 1930s.)

Hotpoint was the official sponsor of the TV show The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Watch the little imp in action in this animated spot.  

Eventually the animated version gave way to a live action portrayal by Mary Tyler Moore. Hmm... too bad they didn't make a Happy Hotpoint Mary Tyler Moore doll.  

I'm not sure when Happy retired from the ad mascot biz, but the old imp looks pretty darn happy in his domain inside my stove. (Shh... don't tell him that it's a Whirlpool.)

1950S LITTLE SOAPS FROM THE DISNEYLAND HOTEL

Here's a fun score for today! Two 1950s Disneyland Hotel soaps. I'm far from an expert, but I believe "and restaurants" was dropped by the 1960s. If so, this is probably one of the early soap wrapper designs for the hotel. They're not in the greatest condition but still a nice piece of Disneyland history to share.

BLAST OFF WITH CRAYOFFS ROCKET RANGERS FROM 1952

Here's something fun for all you space cadets out there. I've scanned this Rocket Rangers instruction sheet that came with a set of Color and Re-Color Cards back in 1952. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the original cards, but according to the instruction sheet they look just like these. Now set your jets for the far off future and enjoy these images from Rocket Rangers!   

SCOTCH MAGIC TAPE: THE INVISIBLE MAN AND HIS FRIEND SCOTTY MCTAPE

I was happy to see that one of the Scotch Magic Tape Invisible Man commercials was uploaded to YouTube earlier this year. I loved these commercials back when I was a kid in the 1970s. So much, I blogged about the Invisible Man in 2012.

I wish I had more Scotch Magic Tape's Invisible Man stuff for today, but I do have a fun Halloween ad from 1951. It features Scotch Tape's earlier pitchman, Scotty McTape!

MID-CENTURY THOMAS TERRY CHRISTMAS CATALOG

All of the vintage Christmas cards I've been sharing are samples taken out of this Thomas Terry catalog. Now here's some scans of the catalog with a few kitchy items!

TWO PACKS OF 1950S CHRISTMAS STENCILS

Yesterday, I found two 1950s Christmas stencil packets and both have fun graphics on the front envelope. In the 1970s, we never sprayed fake snow on our windows. Do people still decorate with snow in a can these days?

Kinda neat that these stencils still have the remnants of canned snow!

The Frosti-White packet only had this one sheet of stencils.
