VALENTINE’S DAY HAS GONE TO THE DOGS

FROM KIM & FROM JEFFREY

Welcome to 14 Days of School Valentines! I’m sure you remember how fun it was to fill out those flimsy little Valentine cards to your school chums back in elementary school, of course it was even more exciting when you received them! Usually they were placed in a pink or red ballot type of box that sat on your desk. At least in my school we either made our boxes the night before or made them in class.

For the next fourteen days I’ll be showing you some of the Valentines I received in elementary, between the years of 1975 to 1981. Luckily I saved a bunch of them in one of my handcrafted ballot boxes. If you stick around until Valentine’s Day you’ll even get to see the box!

this is wonderful of you to share!
i LOVE retro illustrations, especially cute ones!
in 1st grade i wrote a valentine to a girl named julie + signed it from a boy in our class + that really was sneaky for a 6 yr old. usually the girls only wrote to the girls, i don't remember if the boys wrote to each other. i felt really bad afterwards, i guess i still do. it made them both uncomfortable. me too.
